Montenegro has applied the Hague Apostille Convention since June 3, 2006. Public documents from other Convention countries – civil-status certificates, diplomas, police certificates, notarial deeds, court decisions and company documents – are accepted in Montenegro with an apostille from the issuing country, unless an Article 12 objection is in force between the two states. No embassy or consular step is required.
Typical requests for Montenegro concern property on the coast and residence. Authorities in Montenegro generally expect documents in Montenegrin or Serbian; where a document is not bilingual, we add a sworn translation, and for several countries the translator’s signature is apostilled as well. CIEC state: multilingual civil-status extracts need no apostille; other documents need the apostille and a court-interpreter translation.
Notaryzer handles it end to end: the notary reviews your application, we organise the apostille or legalisation in the issuing country, arrange the translation and ship the result to you or directly to the recipient in Montenegro.
