How much does an apostille cost?

The short answer

An apostille costs the statutory fee of the issuing country’s competent authority – from free (Türkiye) to a few dozen euros or dollars in most countries – plus, where needed, a notary fee for private documents, a fresh certificate from the registry, a sworn translation and courier costs. Notaryzer shows all of these as separate lines in a written quote before you pay; statutory fees are passed through without markup.

What the total is made of

    • Authority fee – set by law in the issuing country (table below, from the HCCH records).
    • Notary fee – only for private documents that need a notary first.
    • Certificate fee – for a fresh copy of a birth, marriage or police certificate.
    • Translation – quoted per page when the recipient needs it.
    • Courier – for paper apostilles; e-Apostilles need none.
    • Express – optional, for priority handling and same-day dispatch.

Usually, yes. Legalisation involves several authorities and the destination embassy, whose fees for commercial documents can be significant.
