Azerbaijan has applied the Hague Apostille Convention since March 2, 2005. Public documents from other Convention countries – civil-status certificates, diplomas, police certificates, notarial deeds, court decisions and company documents – are accepted in Azerbaijan with an apostille from the issuing country, unless an Article 12 objection is in force between the two states. No embassy or consular step is required.
Germany had objected to Azerbaijan’s accession but withdrew the objection in 2026, so no objection to Azerbaijan remains in force and the apostille works with all other Convention countries. Azerbaijan itself has objected to Kosovo’s accession: between Azerbaijan and Kosovo the apostille is not accepted.
Azerbaijani recipients require a translation into Azerbaijani, typically certified by a notary in Azerbaijan. Common uses are powers of attorney for property and inheritance, civil-status documents for marriage and residence, and register extracts for company formation; Azerbaijani documents are often needed abroad for work, study and family reunification.
Notaryzer handles it end to end: the notary reviews your application, we organise the apostille or legalisation in the issuing country, arrange the translation and ship the result to you or directly to the recipient in Azerbaijan.
- Plan for an Azerbaijani translation certified by a local notary
- Apostilles between Azerbaijan and Germany are accepted again since 2026
- Documents between Azerbaijan and Kosovo need legalisation instead of an apostille
