Argentina has applied the Hague Apostille Convention since February 18, 1988. Public documents from other Convention countries – civil-status certificates, diplomas, police certificates, notarial deeds, court decisions and company documents – are accepted in Argentina with an apostille from the issuing country, unless an Article 12 objection is in force between the two states. No embassy or consular step is required.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Cancillería) issues apostilles on Argentine public documents and offers a digital apostille. Documents signed by escribanos (notaries) are also apostilled through the notarial colleges (Colegios de Escribanos). Argentine birth, marriage and death certificates are frequently apostilled for citizenship applications by descent (for example in Italy or Spain), alongside degrees and certificates from the Registro Nacional de Reincidencia.
Foreign documents are used in Argentina for residence with the Dirección Nacional de Migraciones, marriage, recognition of degrees, registration of foreign companies and powers of attorney for property or inheritance. Translations into Spanish must be made by a traductor público registered with a Colegio de Traductores Públicos in Argentina, whose signature is usually legalised by that college.
Argentina has objected to Bangladesh’s accession, so apostilles do not work between Argentina and Bangladesh.
Notaryzer handles it end to end: the notary reviews your application, we organise the apostille or legalisation in the issuing country, arrange the translation and ship the result to you or directly to the recipient in Argentina.
