Finland is an EU member state and a Convention party. Between EU member states, civil-status documents – and police certificates of a citizen’s own member state – need no apostille (Regulation 2016/1191); the multilingual standard form replaces a translation. For documents from outside the EU, and for diplomas, notarial deeds, court and company documents, the apostille of the issuing country is required.

Typical requests for Finland concern employment, studies and family matters. Authorities in Finland generally expect documents in Finnish or Swedish; where a document is not bilingual, we add a sworn translation, and for several countries the translator’s signature is apostilled as well. EU member: civil-status documents are exempt; diplomas and notarial deeds need the apostille and a Finnish or Swedish authorised translation.

Notaryzer handles it end to end: the notary reviews your application, we organise the apostille or legalisation in the issuing country, arrange the translation and ship the result to you or directly to the recipient in Finland.
