Macao has applied the Hague Apostille Convention since December 20, 1999. Public documents from other Convention countries – civil-status certificates, diplomas, police certificates, notarial deeds, court decisions and company documents – are accepted in Macao with an apostille from the issuing country, unless an Article 12 objection is in force between the two states. No embassy or consular step is required.

Typical requests for Macao concern gaming-industry employment and corporate matters. Authorities in Macao generally expect documents in Chinese or Portuguese; where a document is not bilingual, we add a sworn translation, and for several countries the translator’s signature is apostilled as well. Macao has applied the Convention via Portugal since 1969; Chinese or Portuguese translations are required.

Notaryzer handles it end to end: the notary reviews your application, we organise the apostille or legalisation in the issuing country, arrange the translation and ship the result to you or directly to the recipient in Macao.
