Cape Verde has applied the Hague Apostille Convention since February 13, 2010. Public documents from other Convention countries – civil-status certificates, diplomas, police certificates, notarial deeds, court decisions and company documents – are accepted in Cape Verde with an apostille from the issuing country, unless an Article 12 objection is in force between the two states. No embassy or consular step is required.

Typical requests for Cape Verde concern family and property matters. Authorities in Cape Verde generally expect documents in Portuguese; where a document is not bilingual, we add a sworn translation, and for several countries the translator’s signature is apostilled as well. Cabo Verde applies the CIEC convention, so multilingual civil-status extracts are accepted without apostille.

Notaryzer handles it end to end: the notary reviews your application, we organise the apostille or legalisation in the issuing country, arrange the translation and ship the result to you or directly to the recipient in Cape Verde.
