Dominican Republic has applied the Hague Apostille Convention since August 30, 2009. Public documents from other Convention countries – civil-status certificates, diplomas, police certificates, notarial deeds, court decisions and company documents – are accepted in Dominican Republic with an apostille from the issuing country, unless an Article 12 objection is in force between the two states. No embassy or consular step is required.
Note: Germany objected to Dominican Republic’s accession, so between Dominican Republic and those states the apostille is not accepted and legalisation applies.
Typical requests for Dominican Republic concern marriage, property and residence. Authorities in Dominican Republic generally expect documents in Spanish; where a document is not bilingual, we add a sworn translation, and for several countries the translator’s signature is apostilled as well. Germany objected to the Dominican Republic’s accession; between the two states documents are legalised instead.
Notaryzer handles it end to end: the notary reviews your application, we organise the apostille or legalisation in the issuing country, arrange the translation and ship the result to you or directly to the recipient in Dominican Republic.
